Our Client, A leading Regional Food production Company, is looking for Supply Chain Manager to be based in Muscat – Oman

to oversee the entire process of getting food products from their source to the consumer. The role is crucial for ensuring efficiency, maintaining food safety, and adapting to the region's specific market conditions.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic planning and leadership

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategy: Create and execute strategies that align with business goals, focusing on cost-effectiveness, quality, and speed.
  • Team management: Lead and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, including those in procurement, logistics, and warehousing.
  • Supplier management: Source and manage relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor their performance to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality raw materials and goods. 

2. Procurement and inventory management

Procurement oversight: Manage all procurement processes, from sourcing and purchase orders to final delivery.

Inventory control: Optimize inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize carrying costs while ensuring sufficient stock to meet demand.

Demand forecasting: Use data analytics to predict demand and adjust procurement and inventory plans accordingly. 

3. Logistics and distribution

Warehouse operations: Oversee the daily operations of warehouses, ensuring efficient and safe storage of food products.

Transportation management: Manage the movement of goods, including domestic and potentially international shipping, to ensure timely deliveries.

Route optimization: Analyze and optimize transportation routes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. 

4. Quality and compliance

Food safety standards: Ensure all supply chain activities comply with Oman's food safety regulations and international standards.

Ethical and sustainable sourcing: Implement and monitor ethical sourcing practices and environmentally friendly processes.

Compliance monitoring: Stay up-to-date with all relevant laws, regulations, and import/export requirements in Oman. 

5. Performance monitoring and improvement

Data analysis: Utilize supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Set and track KPIs for supply chain performance, such as delivery time, cost per unit, and inventory accuracy.

Risk management: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, such as supplier disruptions or logistical challenges. 

Required skills and qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain management, or a related field is typically required.

Experience: often 7-10+ years in supply chain management, with some roles specifying experience in the food and beverage industry.

Professional certifications: Certifications in supply chain management (SCM) are often preferred.

Technical skills: Proficiency in supply chain management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP, and data analysis tools is essential.

Soft skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills are necessary for success.
