Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the food packaging manufacturing facility in Kuwait. This role ensures the facility meets all production targets, maintains the highest standards of product quality and food safety, and operates within budget. The Plant Manager will oversee all departments, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, logistics, and personnel management. 

Key responsibilities

Operational management

  • Direct all daily plant operations to maximize production output and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of products that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to minimize waste and storage costs.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all plant machinery and equipment. 

Quality and food safety

  • Enforce strict adherence to all food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and local Kuwaiti standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet required quality specifications.
  • Manage the resolution of any quality control issues or customer complaints.
  • Lead and participate in food safety and quality audits. 

Personnel management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of employees across all plant functions.
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage employee scheduling, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. 

Financial and business planning

  • Oversee the plant's budget, forecast future performance, and manage financial results.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business development initiatives for the organization.
  • Identify and implement capital improvements and upgrades to existing equipment. 

Health and safety

  • Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with all local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and provide a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any safety hazards. 

Reporting and communication

  • Generate detailed reports on plant performance, including production metrics, quality control, and financials.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend all scheduled management meetings to provide updates and insights. 

Qualifications and requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, food science, business management, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a comparable operations or plant management role within the food manufacturing or packaging industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP).
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing best practices and process optimization.
  • Experience with financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage
