Role summary

The Head of Premium Banking is responsible for leading the bank's strategy and business development for the premium and high-net-worth (HNW) client segments in Jordan. The role involves managing a team of Relationship Managers, driving revenue growth, enhancing the customer experience, and ensuring the delivery of integrated, value-added financial solutions that meet the complex needs of affluent clients. 

Key responsibilities

Strategic leadership and business development

  • Develop and implement the premium banking business strategy to maximize market share, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Formulate and execute business initiatives to grow the HNW customer base and increase their assets under management (AUM).
  • Analyze local market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as corporate banking, treasury, and investment banking, to cross-sell and up-sell a full suite of products and services. 

Team leadership and performance management

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of Premium Relationship Managers to achieve sales targets and business objectives.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to enhance the team's skills in sales, financial planning, investment advising, and relationship-building.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set clear targets, and monitor the team's progress against key performance indicators (KPIs). 

Client relationship management

  • Oversee the cultivation and maintenance of strong, long-term relationships with premium clients to ensure loyalty and retention.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation for complex client issues and ensure service standards exceed client expectations.
  • Provide valuable market insights and comprehensive financial solutions to help clients achieve their wealth management goals. 

Product and service management

  • Contribute to the development of new liability and asset products, investment services, and wealth management offerings that meet the changing needs of affluent clients.
  • Provide feedback to senior management on product performance and client demand to ensure a competitive and relevant product portfolio. 

Risk and regulatory compliance

  • Ensure the team's activities fully comply with the regulations set by the Central Bank of Jordan and other relevant local authorities.
  • Adhere to all internal banking policies and procedures regarding risk management, credit analysis, and financial crime prevention. 

Qualifications and experience

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master's degree (e.g., MBA) is often preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant banking experience, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role within retail, private, or corporate banking.

Market knowledge: Demonstrated experience and understanding of the local Jordanian banking market, including knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory framework.

Networking: An existing network of high-net-worth clients in Jordan is highly advantageous. 

Required skills

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a sales-oriented team.
  • Business acumen: Excellent understanding of financial products, wealth management, risk management, and market dynamics.
  • Communication and interpersonal: Superior communication skills, both verbal and written in Arabic and English, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with demanding clients.
  • Strategic thinking: Strong strategic planning and execution skills to drive business growth.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze market data, financial statements, and client portfolios to make informed decisions.
  • Results-oriented: A track record of meeting and exceeding challenging sales and revenue targets.
