Our Client , a leading International Company , Registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre with operations (presence) in Europe , Asia and Africa , is looking for Cloud Systems Administrator to be based in Amman – Jordan

Job Purpose

The Cloud Systems Administrator is a member of the Windows Infrastructure and Cloud Collaboration team in Administrative Systems and is primarily responsible for the operation, configuration and security of the company email and Windows OS infrastructure. The team owns campus instances of Active Directory, Windows Servers, Microsoft Office 365, as well as SQL DB servers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Cloud Systems Administrator will work closely as part of the team to develop, plan, support and secure the company email and Windows & Dbase infrastructure.  He or she will provide technical assistance on Windows, SQL DBs and cloud-based systems and be expected to solve operational problems with Active Directory, Windows OS application servers, Exchange Online, Office 365, Federated Services, SQL DBs, and other cloud infrastructure components. He or she will also assist in the administration of cloud services, Active Directory, and Windows server environments. Additional responsibilities include:

 

CORE DUTIES*:

  1. Monitor and configure MS SQL Dbase on premise and cloud.
  2. Performance tune the MS SQL Dbase server.
  3. Backup the MS SQL Dbase server
  4. Build, install, configure, analyze, tune, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems both on-premise and in cloud IaaS providers.
  5. Resolve system problems and provide user consultation or training.
  6. Configure systems based on approved designs of the system.
  7. Manage hardware, software, and utilities for installation, modification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of operating systems and workstation environments.
  8. Monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
  9. Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment.
  10. Document systems infrastructure for users, support and consulting personnel, and developers.
  11. Train personnel who provide support and consulting services to users.
  12. Act as liaison with various departments across company offices.
  13. Support on-prem and cloud servers, including security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting.
  14. Maintaining a general level of expertise in Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Azure, SQL and other Windows-based technologies.
  15. Ability to configure VMs and Web Applications through Azure Web Portal and Command Line Interface through PowerShell
  16. Collaborating with other members of IT staff, to ensure that company services meet operations requirements, and ensuring that standards for consistent documentation are met.  The successful candidate will need to work productively as a team member and participate in a collaborative decision-making process.
  17. Participating in 24x7 on-call support rotation.
  18. Document and follow processes and procedures for the Windows infrastructure and systems.
  19. Collaborating with the team on future direction and opportunities for new technology.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience Windows system administration
  • 3 years experience with Azure and Office 365
  • Knowledge of relational databases including SQL Server
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field

 

Must have:

  • Microsoft, or other relevant certification
  • (Nice to have) Ability to develop scripts using Powershell
  • Familiarity with Azure and Office 365
  • (Must have) Working knowledge of SQL server administration
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery strategies
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and Internet protocols

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Experience with multiple types of operating systems or expert knowledge in one.
  • Ability to manage shared resources and perform moderately complex tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to train others in applications and operating system fundamentals.
  • Experience with middleware and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud service models, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Experience implementing a business continuation and disaster recovery plan.
  • Extensive hands-on experience supporting Windows systems in 24 x 7 enterprise environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience supporting SQL Servers in 24 x 7 enterprise environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work calmly and effectively in pressure situations and manage time effectively in a changing environment, strong conceptual and logical abilities and strong planning and project abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex environments and ability to focus on business requirements.
  • Ability to operate within a collaborative team framework both in the workgroup and across IT Services.
  • Ability to creatively apply a unique combination of skills & knowledge to the support and maintenance of systems environment
  • Must be able to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated member of operational and project teams, often simultaneously.
  • Monitor for optimal performance and uptime of cloud infrastructure
  • Respond to alerts of application instability, identifying root cause and corrective actions
  • Control infrastructure costs by continually looking for opportunities to right-size servers and services
  • Architect systems for high availability. Document and test disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Secure systems using best practices, and continuously audit environment to confirm it is bulletproof
  • Promote the development of technical standards for the team
  • Work with the lines of business, support staff, and technology areas, to design a technical structure meeting the strategic needs of the business
